- Excel to Notes or Quickr?
Question to the readers out there:
Has someone written a tool that allows to take a spreadsheet and turn it into a Quickr place or a Notes database. Of course that spreadsheet would contain a list. The tool would pick up the column headings turn them into field names and generate simple forms and views with the ability to do in-view-editing. I know a number of solutions that import/export spreadsheets but to my knowledge they all require existing forms and/or views. I admit I haven't done an intensive research on that yet.

I don't have anything like this however I have written a Notes apps that converts your entire Notes database into a layer cake. If you want a copy I can send it over.

I've got a modified version of some of Rocky Olivers work that uses DXL to create design elements on the fly if you are interested. If I needed to do what you were doing I would have an existing database that read the spreadsheet to get the field names from the headers, create a new database, then use dxl to transform the column headings into a form, create a standard view and maybe a nice outline etc. I am pretty sure it would work. The nice part about that approach is that I can make the end form look nice out of the gate by slotting the new fields into a "standard" SuperNTF form. Putting labels and fields inside a basic table structure shouldn't be that hard either, nor should adding view columns or a "standard" view along with an outline link.
I'd love to see what you've done and perhaps discuss working together on building out an integrated solution.
