The shadow of things to come

Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5 are closing in on their release date. There is a lot of buzz around XPages. But IBM doesn't stop here. Development for 8.5.1 is in full swing and planning for 9.0 has kicked off long ago. Of course (can you spell NDA) I can't tell what's happening next in the Domino space. But I can share a screenshot from my workstation (proudly running Ubuntu):

Nota bene: I do not work in development, I don't make statements what they do or will do.

1 - Hopefully we'll see the Mac version as well as Linux, though it wouldn't surprise me if we don't. Mac is always the last thing catered for by Lotus it seems.

2 - @Matt: The Mac is hugely popular among IBMers by now, so it will get its due share of love. On the other hand from an Enterprise point of view Mac doesn't have as much appeal as Linux. Jack summed it up quite nicely: { Link }

4 - Finally, I can get MS off my laptop. Now I won't need to run a vmware instance of XP any longer. I proudly run Ubuntu on my personal laptop and have been waiting for this since IBM stopped support of the designer client in Notes release 4 on OS/2 !!!!

5 - That's a XP-ish window border. You either have a client that is doing its own window border drawing to make itself look like XP (lame, and doesn't happen with the current batch of Linux clients), or you're using something like VMWare Workstation 6.5 to make Windows apps appear on the Linux document. Either way, something feels wrong here.

7 - Will it support Windows 7?

Not really sure why everyone is so eager to get MS off their laptops. It's puzzling...
