Vista dreams shattered

I wanted to know what it takes to run Vista. So I headed over to CNet's "Are you ready for Vista" Advisor:
A picture named M2

Seems like I'm in for some serious hardware shopping. This looks more tempting every day. Anyhow I moved most of the data off NTFS onto a NAS and experiment with an alternative. My nice from Australia is here for a visit and after a week she hasn't figured out, that it is not Windows she uses to read here email.

Gravatar Image1 - Stephen we switched to Macs a few years ago. Best thing we could have ever done. The kids basically used the internet, game sites etc. Previously with windows it was a constant struggle with us "maintaining" because of slowdowns, viruses etc. Now they run the iMac themselves without problems. Yes it really is easier to manage for day to day life. In fact we went and bought the airport base station because our linksys router was constantly hanging - especially when macs and windows (work) laptop were on the air together. Get up and do a hard re-set ton the router. Let me tell you when that happens every hour or so, sometimes multiple times in an hour it is REALLY annoying. Since we got the airport station the issue has disappeared. Ah bliss.

Gravatar Image2 - Those are great excuses... but in windows you can do much more things than in mac, but, as usual, lack of knowledge.

Gravatar Image3 - @Arceles: I'm not so sure what you want to say. First: It doesn't matter what you could do with a tool. It matters if the tool helps you to do what you want and need to do effectivly. efficiently and with pleasure of use (ISO9241).
Second: Rod, Viren and I know for sure more about Windows than the Mac ... and still Mac beats Windows hands down.
The only thing that worries me is that Apple is the same control freak as Microsoft, albeit in a nicer package.

Gravatar Image4 - I say go with the Mac.

Gravatar Image5 - I switched to mac in april last year. Ever since then...I can not think of going back to the world of windows. I use parallels (www.parallels.com) on my mac to run an xp virtual machine for stuff that needs windwos (e.g. vpn).
